Nick Williams, Assistant SID

DEFIANCE, Ohio — The Defiance College Lady Jacket squad could not pull out a victory Saturday afternoon on the road as the team drops another game, this time to Notre Dame College of Ohio by the score 74 54.

The game proved to be a tale of two halves, as the Jackets trailed by only one at the half. Although Defiance only shot 29% from the field in the half, the Jackets’ free throw shooting helped keep them in the game, shooting 75% from the stripe. In the second half, DC shot better from the field, with a mark of 38%. However, DC could not overcome Notre Dame’s shooting, as the Falcons went 18-of-37 from the field, while shooting 44% from three-point range.

Sarah Bird led the Jackets in scoring with 17 while grabbing seven rebounds. Sarah Grime contributed 11 points and also had seven rebounds. Meghann Savard led the team in rebounds with 10 and added seven points. The Jackets outrebounded Notre Dame 40-32 but committed 29 turnovers compared to Notre Dame’s 13. Four players scored double-digits for the Falcons, including Tamika Watkins, who led the Falcons with 15.

The Lady Jackets return home to Defiance as they host Ohio Northern University Wednesday, December 7 at 7:30 pm.
