Lady Jackets can’t find shooting touch in loss at ONU

--Ada, Ohio—Shooting 37% from the floor, the DC Lady Jackets fell to Ohio Northern, 57-68, in Ada, Ohio on Tuesday evening.

Meghann Savard played a strong game for DC, totaling 19 points on 9-of-16 shooting. Kelly VanderHorst added 11 points and tied for the team lead with six boards. Kara Jones hit 4-of-9 shots for 10 points and tied Meta Gerding for the assists lead with four. Each team shot just five free throws, while Defiance hit only 27% of their three-point attempts.

The Lady Jackets had more second-chance points, 19-10, and points-off-turnovers, 19-16, but were able to tie the score just once, and fell behind by 24 with less than seven minutes to go.

Erin Brand led the Bears with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds in her first career start.

The Lady Jackets are 2-1 on the year and will next travel to Wilmington College for the Raizk Tournament this weekend with their opening round game starting at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday against Whitworth College.
