Lady Jackets pick up a victory in their final regular season game

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The one-day delay could not stop the DC Lady Jackets from victory as the team picked up a win against Transylvania University Sunday afternoon by the score 64-55.

DC honored its seniors Meghann Savard and Kara Jones before the game for their service to the program. The Lady Jackets, inspired by the opening ceremonies, came out firing in the game, leading by six in the first six minutes.

The Lady Jackets never trailed during the entire game and was up by as many as 15 with 8:14 left to go in the first half. Transy made the score 33-29 going into the second half and actually tied the game at 35 at the 15-minute mark. DC was able to regain the lead on a Sarah Bird three-pointer and would go on a 14-0 run over the next seven minutes.

Savard put up 26 points and seven rebounds in the win. Jones scored nine and grabbed six boards. Sarah Grime contributed 11 points and nine rebounds. Transy’s Jackie Distler had 13 for the Pioneers.

DC (6-19, 3-11 HCAC) travels to Manchester for the first round of the HCAC Tournament on Tuesday. Transylvania (8-16, 6-8 HCAC) travels to Indiana to take on Anderson on Tuesday as well.
