Lady Jackets drop two at Wilmington

--Defiance, Ohio—The DC Lady Jackets fell in two games at Raizk Tournament on the campus of Wilmington College this past weekend.

In Sunday’s consolation game, Defiance fell to defending national champion, Wilmington College, 68-79, after losing to Whitworth College, 51-67 on Saturday evening in the opening round.

Meghann Savard and Meta Gerding led DC in both games with Savard scoring 15 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out two assists in game one, and added an 11-point, five rebound two-assist performance in the second game. Gerding had 17 points, five rebounds and three assists against Wilmington, and had 15 points, eight rebounds and an assist in the first game vs.Whitworth.

The Lady Jackets hung tough against Wilmington, trailing only by two at the half, 38-40. DC shot 52% from the floor in the second game, while connecting on 49% of their attempts against Whitworth.

Defiance is now 2-3 on the season and will travel to Case Western on Wednesday to face the Lady Spartans at 7:00 p.m.
