Women's Golf Hosts Defiance College Invitational

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Defiance College competed in its fourth tournament over the past two weeks on Monday, as the women’s golf team hosted the 2007 Defiance Invitational at Kettenring Country Club.

DC placed fifth as a team with a single-round score of 544 and was paced once again by Tracy Sauter’s 21st-place finish. Sauter fired a 52 on the front nine and ended the afternoon with a 110. Kelci Wunderlich was next in line for the Jackets with a 130 and a 26th-place finish, while Allison Johnson (150), Amber Kaufman (154) and Shannon O’Dell (158) rounded out the score card for Defiance.

The University of Saint Francis (Ind.) took home the team championship by a wide margin, totaling a 355 to beat out Ohio Northern’s ‘B’ roster by 20 strokes. Adrian ended third with a 396 and Mount St. Joseph took fourth with a score of 481.

Sauter finished 21st to pace the Yellow Jackets lineup.

USF’s Katie Jones claimed the individual championship by posting a pair of sub-45 scores to end with an 86. A pair of USF teammates tied for second, as Lindsey Eaton and Randi Black each carded 89’s and several golfers tied for fourth place with a 91.

Defiance will take a break in the action before facing its next challenge. The Jackets will play at Manchester on Oct. 6.
