Women's Golf Takes Seventh at HCAC Championships

WARSAW, Ind. – Defiance College wrapped up its 2006 women’s golf season on Saturday at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in Warsaw, Indiana. The Lady Jackets sent four players to the event and placed seventh.

Shari Maine led the way for Defiance with a second-round score of 98 for a two-round total of 202, good for 21st position. Tracy Sauter shot a 237 to end in 31st while Brooke Lancey and Amanda Patrick finished in 35th and 37th place.

Manchester College won the team championship by 26 strokes with a total of 707. Franklin (733) and Anderson (750) rounded out the top three.

Franklin’s Katie Tewell pulled away from the pack en route to winning the individual crown by 12 shots with a two-round total of 154. MC’s Anita Zollars ended in second place after shooting a 166 and a trio of players tied for third in the standings with a score of 169.
