Women's Golf Competes at Madonna Invitational

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – Tracy Sauter and Jasmine Martin braved frigid and gusty conditions to represent Defiance College in the Madonna University Invitational held on April 15 and 16.

Sauter placed 16th in the event with a two-day total of 232 and was just 17 strokes out of the top ten. Martin scored a 352 in her first collegiate competition and finished in 20th position.

The University of St. Francis won the team competition by 17 shots over second-place Aquinas. Siena Heights took third and Madonna rounded out the team standings in fourth.

Jessica Morse of Aquinas came in with a two-day total of 199 to win the individual title while USF’s Sara Eckert and Siena Heights’ Kelly Sawyer tied for second with totals of 202.

Defiance will be back in action this weekend when it competes on Saturday at Manchester.
