Lady Jackets Tune Up for HCAC Championships

WABASH, Ind. – Defiance College played its final regular season tournament of the fall campaign on Saturday, ending sixth at the Manchester Invitational. The event was DC’s last before competing in the Heartland Conference Championships on Oct. 13 and 14.

The six-team event was made up of all HCAC teams and was won by Franklin as the Grizzlies cleared the field by 12 strokes with a 350. Rose-Hulman ended second after totaling a 362 and Manchester took third with a 403. Anderson (415), Mount St. Joseph (489) and Defiance (541) rounded out the team standings.

Franklin’s Katie Tewell won medalist honors by two strokes over R-H’s Stephanie Harrington. Tewell claimed the title with a single-round score of 77, with Rose Hulman’s Harrington and Amelia Dasovich filling out the top three with scores of 79 and 81.

Wunderlich shot a single-round total of 130 on Saturday.

Tracy Sauter was DC’s top finisher with a score of 129 and was directly followed by Kelci Wunderlich’s 130. Shay Robison carded a 140 and Amber Kaufman ended with a 142.

Defiance will wrap up its fall campaign when it plays in the HCAC Championships next weekend.
