DC Women's Soccer picked to finish sixth in the conference

GREENWOOD, Ind. —The Defiance College Women’s Soccer Team is selected to finish sixth in the conference in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Preseason Poll. DC earned 40 points in the poll, ahead of Hanover College, Franklin College, and Bluffton University.

The Jackets are looking to improve on a 7-10-1 overall record and a 4-3 conference finish in which they finished tied for fourth in the HCAC. The Jackets will look to do it with a new head coach and eight returning players, including three all-HCAC athletes. Alden Lawrence enters his first year at the helm of the Yellow Jacket soccer program after spending one season as the men’s and women’s head coach at Bethany College. Dierdre Trujillo and Michelle Kavanagh also return for their senior and junior years, respectively, as both were named to the all-HCAC First Team. Returning junior Rachel Moore also earned all-conference honors, as she named to the all-HCAC Second Team.

The 2006 HCAC women’s soccer season is scheduled to begin on September 1st, with the Yellow Jackets opening up the year at home in the Defiance Classic September 2nd.
