DC Women’s Soccer offense stifled by Britons

DEFIANCE, Ohio The Defiance College Women’s Soccer team was defeated by the Albion College Britons by the score of 6-1 on Sunday, September 24 at Winsper-Knobel Field.
Deirdre Trujillo scored the lone goal for the Yellow Jackets in the 76th minute off of a free kick out of the goalie’s reach to the left.
For the Britons, Lauren Baker scored two goals within five minutes of each other for the only goals in the first period. Right after halftime, the Britons came out strong with three more goals from Brittany Cortese, Allison Oatley, and Chelsea Gray in the 48th, 49th and 65th minutes, respectively. Those were followed by another goal by Sami Maskell with less than four minutes left in the game.
The Albion goalies, Emily Heddon and Caitlin Bowman, combined for five saves. Stacey Bosserman had ten saves for DC.
Defiance had ten shots, six on goal. Conversely, Albion had 27 shots with 16 on goal. DC had two corner kicks with AC kicking four.
The game was played physical by both teams, as Albion had 19 fouls with one caution while Defiance had nine fouls.
The Yellow Jackets (3-6-1, 0-1-0 HCAC) will host the Crusaders of Capital University on Thursday at 2:30 pm.
