BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Defiance College Lady Jackets picked up their first HCAC win of the season with a 1-0 victory over Bluffton University on Wednesday, October 3. Defiance improves to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the HCAC with the win.
Michelle Kavanagh scored the game-winner on an assist by Sarah Jones in the 53rd minute to give DC its second victory in three games. The Yellow Jackets were outshot 18-12, but were able to put 11 of their 12 shots on goal. Kavanagh led the team with three shots, two on goal, while Jones and Lauren Ranalli each had two shots on goal as well for DC.
Andrea Galbraith posted her second shutout victory of the season, picking up seven saves along the way. The freshman keeper came into the game ranked first in the HCAC with 27 saves in her two conference matches.
Defiance will return to action this weekend on Saturday, October 6, when it travels to Lexington, Ky. for a HCAC matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
