Lady Jackets too much for Beavers

Defiance, Ohio—The Defiance College Lady Jackets defeated the Bluffton University Beavers 6-1 at Winsper-Knobel Memorial Field Tuesday afternoon.

Deirdre Trujillo and Katie Klear paced the Jackets with two goals apiece. Amanda Betzing and Michelle Kavanagh rounded up the scoring for Defiance with one goal each. Kavanagh also had two assist in the outing. Sophomore goalie Sarah Sutter had seven saves, allowing only one goal.

The Beavers were led by freshman Elyse Burckhart with one goal on four attempts. Sophomore goalie Ashley Bloom had 11 saves, giving up six goals.

While the Jackets did commit more fouls, 6-5, Defiance out shot the Beavers by a margin of 21-10. The Jackets also had three corner kicks to Bluffton’s none.

Defiance, now 3-6-1 and 1-0 in the HCAC, returns to action Saturday at noon vs. the Panthers of Hanover College at Winsper Knoble Memorial Field.
