DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Lady Jackets started off the Senior Day festivities with a 4-0 victory over Franklin College on Saturday, October 13. DC improves to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in HCAC play with the win.

The Jackets wasted no time establishing control over the game as Lauren Ranalli scored off a pass by Cherilyn Borkholder in the eighth minute to grab an early 1-0 advantage. DC would add another goal before the end of the half as Kaitlin Monberg punched one in for a 2-0 lead.

Just minutes after the Senior Day ceremony, Michelle Kavanagh scored her third goal of the season to push the Defiance lead to 3-0. Kavanagh added another goal in the 59th minute on a header in the box from a Hannah Davis corner kick, making the final score 4-0 Defiance.

Defiance outshot Franklin 28-5 over the course of the game, including 12-0 in the second half. Kavanagh led the way with seven shots, while Monberg, Borkholder, and Melissa Alston had four shots apiece for DC. Andrea Galbraith picked up her third shutout of the season, moving to 5-6 on the season.

Defiance will return to action on Wednesday, October 17, when it travels to Alma College for a night game. The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
