DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Lady Jackets moved to .500 in HCAC play (3-3) with a 2-0 victory over Hanover College on Saturday, October 20. The Jackets won their season-high fourth consecutive match and are 6-2 over their last month of play.
In the fourteenth minute of the match Cherilyn Borkholder broke free on a great pass by Kaitlin Monberg scoring her sixth goal of the season to give DC an early 1-0 advantage. Defiance had only three shots in the first half, but that was enough for Borkholder to knock in what turned out to be the game-winner. The Jackets would add a security goal in the second half when Lauren Ranalli pushed a shot past the Panther’s keeper to make the final score 2-0.
Andrea Galbraith moved to 7-6 on the season, posting her fifth shutout of the season. The freshman, who ranks third in the HCAC with 6.33 saves per game, tallied seven saves on the game. Ranalli, who scored her third goal of the season, led DC with four shots. Borkholder and Sarah Jones each had three shots apiece for the Jackets, who have outscored their opponents 12-2 over the last four contests.
