DC Women’s Soccer fails to get to .500 in the HCAC
Nick Williams, Assistant SID

HANOVER, Ind. — Two early first-half goals were too much for the Defiance College Women’s Soccer team to overcome, as the Jackets were beaten by Hanover College by the score 2-1.

Hanover scored in the seventh and 23rd minutes of the game to take an early 2-0 lead. Deirdre Trujillo would cut the lead to one with a goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately for Defiance, the team could not come up with the equalizer in the final two minutes.

Lauren Ranalli made five saves for DC in the loss. Trujillo put a season-high eight shots in the game, with one converted for DC’s lone goal. Hannah Jones, Kaitlin Monberg, and Hannah Davis each had multiple shots for the Jackets, with four, two, and two, respectively.

The Jackets had an aggressive showing, as evidenced by the team’s 12 fouls compared to Hanover’s eight. In addition, DC also had two cautions called on the team.

Defiance (5-11-1, 2-4 HCAC) will head back to Indiana on Tuesday, this time to take on Manchester College for a 3:30 start.
