Spartan’s hand Lady Jackets first conference lose

-- Defiance, Ohio — The Defiance College women’s soccer team lost 6-1 to Manchester College Tuesday evening at Knobel Field.

Senior Jessica Hoeppner scored the lone goal for Defiance at the end of the first half. The Spartans scored four in the first half with two by sophomore Miranda Ford and two more in the second half.

Freshman Sarah Sutter had 11 saves in goal facing 24 shots, while sophomore Bri Sawa from Manchester had nine saves facing 11 shots.

The Manchester Spartans had nine fouls while Defiance had eight. Defiance had three corner kicks to Manchester’s five.

Lady Jackets are now 8-4-3 (3-1-1 HCAC) and will next host Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday October 23 at 1 p.m.
