DC Women’s Soccer drops HCAC matchup

N. MANCHESTER, Ind. The Defiance College Women’s Soccer team could not pick up its third HCAC victory of the season, as the Jackets fall to Manchester College by the score 4-0.
Defiance fell behind early in the game, as Paige Koomler scored the first goal of the game in the third minute. She would add another goal in the 40th minute as the Spartans took a 2-0 lead entering the half. Manchester would keep the pressure on the Jackets in the second half, as Stacey Jerke scored on a penalty kick in the 47th minute. Koomler would cap off the Spartan scoring with her third goal in the 53rd minute for the hat trick.
Lauren Ranalli made 14 saves for DC in the game, while Deirdre Trujillo added four shots for the Jackets. Michelle Kavanagh added two shots while Hannah Jones contributed one shot.
Manchester kept the Yellow Jacket defense busy, as the Spartans outshot DC in the game 34 to seven. The Jackets were also whisled for a caution in the 30th minute.
Defiance (5-12-1, 2-5 HCAC) will play its final game of the regular season as DC will host a men’s-women’s doubleheader Saturday afternoon, taking on Anderson University at 1:00 p.m.
