Lady Jackets Fall to MSJ 2-0

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Defiance College Lady Jackets fell to 0-2 in HCAC action with a 2-0 loss to the Mount St. Joseph Lions. The loss drops Defiance to 2-7 overall on the season.

The Lions scored in the 18th minute to take a 1-0 advantage, but were unable to capitalize on their 18 other shots in the first half. DC keeper Andrea Galbraith was a major reason for the Lion’s inability to add another goal, racking up 11 of her 15 saves in the opening period. Mount St. Joseph, who would add a security goal early in the second half, outshot Defiance 30-4 on their way to the win.

Lauren Ranalli came off the bench to give the Jackets their only shot on goal. Cherilyn Borkholder, Jessica Gamble and Michelle Kavanagh each had a shot for DC.

DC will resume action on Wednesday, October 3, when it travels to rival Bluffton for a conference match. Kick-off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
