Lady Jacket Soccer ties host Oberlin

OBERLIN, Ohio—The Defiance College women’s soccer team tied Oberlin College, 1-1, in the second day of the Oberlin College Tournament on Sunday afternoon.

Emily Armstrong had the lone Jacket goal in the 90th minute when she headed in a Deirdre Trujillo direct kick to send the game into extra minutes. Trujillo had five shots on goal for the game with the lone DC assist. Sarah Sutter had 12 saves in goal, playing all 110 minutes.

The Lady Jackets outshot the Yeowomen 17-12 and had seven corner kicks compared to OC’s four. Sarah Kotcon scored the Oberlin goal in the 45th minute when she banked in a shot off the far post from 35-yards out.

Defiance is now 0-1-1 on the young season and will next travel to Ohio Northern on Wednesday to face Ohio Northern at 4:00 p.m.

The Lady Polar Bears have an identical 0-1-1 record after losing 1-3 at University of California- Santa Cruz and tying Cal State- East Bay 2-2 on a season-opening west coast trip.
