Lady Jacket Soccer falls to ONU

ADA, Ohio—The Defiance College women’s soccer squad fell at Ohio Northern University, 0-2, on Wednesday afternoon.

Deirdre Trujillo managed two shots on goal, while Michelle Kavanagh and Tiffany Chudzinski each added a shot. Goalkeeper Sarah Sutter stopped 14 Polar Bear shots as the Lady Jackets were outshot 11-33 in the contest.

The game went into halftime scoreless and remained knotted at zero until ONU’s Erin Stapp scored the first of her two goals in the 53rd minute when she headed in a cross from five yards out. Stapp later added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute on a breakaway.

Ohio Northern controlled the field position throughout the game with seven corner kicks compared to DC’s three.

The Lady Jackets are now 0-2-1 on the season and will look to get their first win of the season when they host Ohio Wesleyan University on Tuesday, September 13th.

The OWU Battling Bishops are ranked #7 nationally and are 1-1-0 heading into this weekend’s Central Ohio Showcase Tournament. OWU defeated 15th ranked University of Chicago, 2-1, before falling to Nazareth, 1-2, in the Bishops’ Invitational Tournament last weekend.
