DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Women’s Soccer team was defeated 4-0 by Ohio Northern University this evening at Winsper-Knobel Field.

Kaitlin Sanders scored the first goal in the 21st minute off of a cross for ONU with the assist from Stacey Barnhart. The second goal came in the 41st minute on a goalie deflection by Laura Childerson. Jamie Eiben scored the third goal of the game two minutes later off of a cross. The final goal was scored in the second period by Stacey Earnhart off of a corner kick.

The Yellow Jackets came out hard for the whole ninety minutes but were shut down by the tough defense of ONU. One aspect of the game that was relatively even throughout was the fouls, as Defiance ended up with eight, while Ohio Northern had eleven. The physical play also led to three players being carded.

Stacey Bosserman had 16 saves in goal on 34 shots for Defiance, while Barbie Krieger and Kara Amend combined for the shutout for ONU.

Defiance (1-2-1) hits the road on Wednesday to take on the Student Princes of Heidelberg at 4:00 p.m.
