DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Women’s Tennis team struggled against Huntington College as the Jackets fall 9-0 to the Foresters Thursday afternoon by the score 9-0.

The Jackets could not seem to get anything going, as the team fell in straight sets in all singles play. Laurel Smith was nearly able to mount a comeback in the second set in #4 singles against Jessica Deter, forcing the match to a seven-point decision. However, the push came too late, as she ultimately fell 6-1, 7-5.

Emily Meyer and Amanda Auzins had the most success in doubles play as they were able to take four sets from Stephanie Strong and Raelyn Althoff in the #1 flight en route to the 8-4 defeat. Jessica Gullette and Cindy Toth went down in similar fashion, losing to Katie Sprunger and Liz Hull in #3 doubles 8-2.

Defiance (3-6, 1-5 HCAC) will look to get back on the winning track when the team hosts an HCAC tri-match against Transylvania University and Anderson University. The team will play Transy first at 10:00 a.m. and Anderson later in the day at 4:00 p.m.
