Lady Jacket Tennis drops match against Indiana Wesleyan

--DEFIANCE, Ohio—The Defiance College women’s tennis team ended a three-match winning streak after losing to Indiana Wesleyan 9-0 Thursday afternoon.

The Yellow Jackets had their work cut out for them as Indiana came into the match undefeated for the season with a 10-0 record. Emily Meyer and Erin Wendt played their first match this season as partners, yet the two lost their #3 doubles match 8-6. Vanessa Vendetta and Traci Dye also paired up, playing #1 doubles together for the first time, yet they had the same result as Meyer and Wendt, losing 8-1.

In singles play, Casie Burkhart dropped her #5 match to Melissa Masterson 6-1, 6-0. Jessica Gullette also lost her #2 singles match to Shannon Gehrke by the same score.

Defiance's record now stands at 5-7. The Yellow Jackets host Grace College Saturday, October 1 at 11:00 a.m.
