DC Women's Tennis falls to Indiana Wesleyan

MARION, Ind. - The Defiance College Women's Tennis team was unsuccessful in its bid for two straight wins as the team was beaten 8-0 by Indiana Wesleyan University Thursday evening.

Indiana Wesleyan entered the match undefeated on the season, and the Yellow Jackets were unable to give the Wildcats their first loss. Due to the impending rain, the team played the entire match as a pro-set. Even with the shortened matches, DC struggled to get a rally going. Emily Meyer and Amanda Auzins won the most sets of any Yellow Jacket player, taking three before falling 8-3 to Kristi Haddad and Shannon Gehrke in #1 doubles. Meyer also lost Haddad in #1 singles by the same score.

Vanessa Vendetta's #3 singles match, which was the final match of the day, was cut short by the rain with the score 5-0.

Defiance (4-7, 2-6 HCAC) will play its rescheduled match against Anderson University tomorrow morning at home at 10:00 a.m.
