Women's Tennis gets back on winning track

DEFIANCE, Ohio - After having the match pushed back a day because of potential inclement weather, the Defiance College Women's Tennis team won a significant match against Transylvania University Sunday afternoon, beating the Pioneers 5-4.
The team picked up wins in all three doubles matches, including the fourth #2 doubles win of the season for Vanessa Vendetta and Laurel Smith, as the duo beat Kathy and Carrie Shewmaker 8-5. Emily Meyer and Amanda Auzins picked up their fourth #1 doubles win in five matches with an 8-2 victory over April Young and Jessica Hanson.
Meyer also defeated Hanson in #1 singles 6-0, 6-1. Smith had DC's deciding win in #4 singles, beather Kathy Shewmaker 6-2, 6-2.
DC's rescheduled match against Anderson was postponed again due to weather conditions. No makeup date has been set yet.
Defiance (4-6, 2-5 HCAC) will head west to Indiana on Thursday to take on Indiana Wesleyan at 3:00 p.m.
