November 1, 2012

DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Defiance College Community Band will perform a “Tribute to Veterans” concert on Tuesday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Defiance Community Auditorium, downtown Defiance. The concert will highlight and honor our veterans with many stirring patriotic selections.

The concert will feature flute soloist Kathy Bell on the technically challenging “Swiss Shepherd,” and Defiance city historian Randy Buchman narrating excerpts of Abraham Lincoln’s great documents to composer Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait.”

The concert will include Jamie Blank, the “voice” of the DCCB, and the greatest march ever written, “The Stars and Stripes Forever.”  DC graduate assistant Julee Bayliss will guest conduct a Glenn Miller tribute, and conductors Cathy Booth and Scott Rogers will round out the program with rich heritage pieces including the “Liberty Bell” and “National Emblem.”

The event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.
