Black Swamp Strings Orchestra Spring Concert Scheduled for May 2

DEFIANCE, Ohio – Mark your calendars for the final concert of the Defiance College Black Swamp Strings Orchestra 2013-2014 season. The concert will be held Friday, May 2, in St. John United Church of Christ, Webster Street.

The concert will include classical music favorites to celebrate spring and feature the talents of DC students and community members. Conductors Nancy Davis and Andy Favorito will direct the group in chamber works and full orchestral selections with winds, brass and percussion. Guest conductors include Bridget Leahy, DC’s director of bands, and Doug Olenik, adjunct professor of music.

This concert is being performed in memory of Jack Palmer, former religion editor at the Defiance Crescent-News and longtime supporter of the DC music programs.

The event is free and open to the public. The performance will begin at 7 p.m. A free-will offering will be taken at the end of the performance.
