Christmas carnival at Defiance College on Dec. 4

November 30, 2015

DEFIANCE, Ohio – A Christmas Carnival on the Defiance College campus on Friday, Dec. 4, will benefit the college's Dance Marathon project in support of the Toledo Children's Miracle Network. The carnival will run from 4 to 8 p.m. at the George M. Smart Athletic Center and is open to the public.

Each year since 2007, Defiance College has hosted the Dance Marathon on campus.  This winter, the Dance Marathon will feature more than a dozen carnival activities. Depending on the game, cost to play will range from 10 cents to a dollar. For every game played, participants will receive up to three raffle tickets for items or gift certificates from local businesses.

Dance Marathon is led by students as part of Defiance College’s Project 701. Project 701 is a unique, student-implemented non-profit organization that gives students the opportunity to give back to Defiance College and the community in a meaningful way while providing them a chance to apply their academic knowledge to solve a real world problem. Students have the opportunity to volunteer with the various projects, become managers of an individual project, join the staff or board that oversees Project 701 as a whole, or start up their own program.

All money received at the Christmas Carnival will go to funding the spring Buzzathon, which has a goal of raising $10,000 for the Toledo Children’s Miracle Network. There will be a box at the Dance Marathon for donations directly to the Children’s Miracle Network as well.
