Katie St. Clair gallery reception at Defiance College on Feb. 5

DEFIANCE, Ohio – A reception for artist Katie St. Clair will be held Friday, Feb. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Defiance College Women's Commission Art Gallery. Her show, entitled "Erratics," is currently on display in the gallery.

During the reception, St. Clair will speak about her artistic process and the work displayed. Her talk will begin at 4:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Work by Katie St. ClairOriginally hailing from Cincinnati, Ohio, St. Clair works in the mediums of painting and collage, as well as time sensitive installations. In 2014, she graduated from the Stamps School of Art and Design at the University of Michigan. Since graduation, she has been a long term artist-in-residence at Albion College (Fall 2014) and at the Burren College of Art in Ireland (Spring 2015).

Her work has been featured in several solo and group exhibitions including shows at Tangent Gallery in Detroit, Apexart, Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Cincinnati Art Underground, Siena Heights College, and the Art Academy of Cincinnati. She received best in show from L.A. Times art critic Christopher Knight at the 95th Toledo Area Artists Exhibition at the Toledo Art Museum and was also awarded the Athena Art Society Award for women artists. Currently, St. Clair is teaching painting and drawing at Albion College and leading a large-scale mural project with students on campus.

 The Women’s Commission Art Gallery is located at Defiance College, 701 N. Clinton Street, along Sessions Street. The gallery is open during business hours, 9 - 6 p.m., Monday - Friday. Guests may enter using the interior door accessible through Dana Hall or the Art Center. Work featured in the exhibition will be available for purchase.
