- Fixed interest rate at 6.80%
- No interest while a student is registered for six or more credit hours
- Interest and repayment begin once a student drops below six credit hours
Application
The student must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to be considered for Federal Direct Loans. The FAFSA can be completed at Apply for Financial Aid. Be sure to include the Defiance College school code, 003041.
Students that have not previously borrowed Federal Direct Loans will also need to complete Entrance Loan Counseling. The Counseling session covers information on your rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. This must be complete before loan funds can be disbursed. Complete online at Applying for a Direct Loan/Information.
Also, if you are a first-time student at Defiance College, you will need to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN). Loan funds will not be disbursed until you complete the MPN. The MPN will require your PIN and two references. Complete online at Applying for a Direct Loan/Information.
