Defiance College Student Employment Program

What is Federal Work-study?
The Federal Work-Study Program provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to your course of study.

What is Regular Payroll?
Regular Payroll provides jobs for undergraduate and graduate students without financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to your course of study.  Students must apply and be approved through the DC Financial Aid Office for Regular Payroll.

How can I find a job?
The DC website Job Listings is an easy way to find and research job opportunities.  The listings include the job title, department, contact information, etc. 

How much will I make?
The Defiance College Student Employment Program wages are currently $6.85/hr.

How will I be paid?
Students are paid by the hour and will receive a check once a month.  (Be sure all your paper work is complete prior to working so there is no delay in your check.) Students are paid on the 7th of each month, and will be paid directly. Checks are available for pick-up in the Business Office.

Are Work-Study jobs on campus or off campus?
Both! If you work on campus, you'll usually work for Defiance College. If you work off campus, your employer will usually be a private nonprofit organization or a public agency, and the work performed must be in the public interest.

Can I work as many hours as I want?
No, most students work between 8 – 12 hours a week.   Students are not permitted to work more than 20 hours per week.  The amount you earn can not exceed your total Work-Study award without prior application and approval.
