How do I apply?
Complete an application and submit it, either by mail or online through Defiance College website at www.defiance.edu and then click on Apply Online. You should forward all official transcripts from your college/nursing school to the Defiance College Admissions Office. We will review your transcripts and prepare a plan of study for the courses you need to take.
How long does the application and transfer review process take?
You will receive an acceptance letter within 14 days after all application materials are received and verification of Ohio Licensure is completed.
When are courses offered?
Some nursing courses will be offered in a fast-track with all courses held one or two days per week to accommodate various work schedules. Liberal arts courses are offered in traditional face to face, hybrid/blended and fully online formats. General education courses and electives are also available through the Defiance College day, evening, online, and Weekend College Programs.
How long will it take me to finish the program?
It will depend on how many credit hours you transfer to Defiance College and how many courses you plan to take per semester. The BSN degree requires successful completion of at least 120 credit hours, including all transfer credits.
How much will it cost?
Defiance College offers the most affordable part-time tuition in the region at $410 per credit hour. There is an additional student fee of $85 per semester. Many employers offer tuition assistance/reimbursement. Check with your employer to see if this is an option for you.
What payment options are available?
Defiance College offers tuition deferment (up to 100%) for eligible students. The program is for tuition only and does not allow deferral of books, fees, or other supply expenses.
All accepted undergraduate students can be considered for need-based financial aid including loans after completing the Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Defiance College Financial Aid Form.
Eligible students may also choose to use the Defiance College Payment Plan to pay their tuition and fees. There is a $30 non-refundable fee per semester for this plan.
What kind of nursing license is required for admission to the program?
You must have a current unencumbered Ohio RN license which will be verified through the Ohio Board of Nursing website.
Is Defiance College accredited?
The RN to BSN Completion Program at Defiance College is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, One Dupont Circle, NW, Suite 530, Washington DC 20036, (202) 887-6791. Defiance College is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Accreditation for the Bachelor of Science in nursing program is approved by the Ohio Board of Regents with extended accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
