Bio
I grew up in a small town close to Defiance and graduated from Defiance College with a degree in mathematics and certification to teach middle and high school. After teaching for a year, I returned to school, getting a Master's Degree in Mathematics at Miami of Ohio. After completing coursework for a doctorate in South Carolina, I moved to Florida and got married. Since then, I taught at Florida State University and Tallahassee Community College for five years and Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia for two years. In 2000, I was fortunate enough to get to return to Defiance College and my hometown area of Stryker. I enjoy teaching all of the upper level math courses, but would have to pick Modern Geometry and History of Math as two of my favorites.
My graduate studies focused on set theoretic topology, but lately I have been interested in research in number theory, particularly the Twin Prime Conjecture. Off campus, I enjoy reading to my daughters, serving my local church, and long distance running. Lately, my wife and I have been practicing piano duets, particularly Christmas songs.
