2012-2013 Schedule Information and Dates
Office of the Registrar

academic calendar

Scheduling Procedures and Dates
The course schedule contains the course offerings for fall and spring semesters in 2012-2013. Scheduling is reserving a place in courses for the next semester. Schedules must be approved by the academic adviser, and you should schedule for both fall and spring semester at the same time. A scheduling sheet is available online under course schedules. After you have an approved fall and spring schedule, it can be submitted to the Registrar’s Office, Serrick Center 204. Seniors and students, who are education majors, are encouraged to schedule during the first two weeks after scheduling begins in order to get into the courses needed for graduation.  All students need to schedule no later than Friday, April, 6.

Part-Time Student
Part-time students, who are not on campus during the day, may mail or email their schedules to the Registrar’s Office any time after accessing this roster of classes, but before April 6.

Completing Registration
To attend class the Business Office must receive a signed billing statement with payment arrangements completed by the due date; regardless if you have a schedule change, zero balance, credit balance, or loans in process. Student bills are due and payable in full on or before August 1 for fall, and December 1 for spring. Bills may be accessed on www.defiance.edu through ONESTOP. Failure to meet this deadline may result in a $100.00 late fee.

Summer School
The Summer course schedule for 2013 can be found online at:http://www.defiance.edu/pages/catalog.html. We welcome current students and new students to take courses in the summer, schedules are currently being accepted in the Registrar’s Office. Please keep in mind that student’s must take 6 hours of summer coursework to be eligible for financial aid.

Independent Study
Independent studies require the permission of the instructor, division head and academic dean.  Independent Studies cannot be added to a schedule until the approved independent study form is submitted to the Registrar’s Office.  Forms can be obtained on the College website under quicklinks, important forms.

Co-operative Education
Co-ops require the permission of the employer, instructor and co-op coordinator (Career Services Office).  Co-ops cannot be added to a schedule until the approved co-op form is submitted to the Registrar’s Office. Forms can be obtained on the College website under quicklinks, important forms.

Deposit on Tuition due May 1
Students who will be full-time in fall 2012 are required to make a $150.00 deposit on tuition by May 1.

Family Rights and Privacy Act
All students have the right to request that the College withhold directory information from the public. Requests must be filed each year. More detailed information about the Privacy Act can be found on the catalogs/schedules website. Additional information and forms to withhold information for the 2012-2013 school year can be picked up in the Registrar’s Office or request that the form be mailed to the student.

Course Conflicts
Students should not schedule courses that conflict in time unless both courses must be taken in that semester and cannot be avoided. If one of the courses can be taken another semester, it should be and is not considered a conflict that requires a solution by the Registrar’s Office. We will try to resolve conflicts after the scheduling period is over. Conflicts are only resolved between required courses in a major and not between courses that are desired but not required.
