Awarded annually to new students participating in marching band at
Defiance College. Selection is based upon on-site auditions prior to
the student's first fall enrollment. Marching Band Scholarship
recipients must enroll for a minimum of one credit hour per semester
of marching band/music ensemble, and maintain a 2.0 grade point
average. Renewed annually pending continual participation in the
marching band program.
Richard W. Stroede Scholarship, $1,000 annually ($500 per semester)
Music Talent Award, $500 annually ($250 per semester)
Scholarship Information & Guidelines
Scholarships are available for incoming full-time students interested in participating in Music Programs at Defiance College. Scholarship recipients are selected through on-site auditions the spring prior to the student’s first fall enrollment. Music talent award and Stroede scholarship winners must enroll for a minimum of one credit hour per semester of music ensembles, and maintain a 2.0 grade point average. The R.W. Stroede recipient must also take one credit hour of an applied lesson per semester.

Music Programs Audition Requirements - Vocal and Instrumental
One prepared class A or B solo is required. Scales, sight reading and/or tonal retention exercises may also be requested. An accompanist can be provided by request with music received two weeks prior to audition.
