Supervision and leadership is more than just than telling people what to do and how to do it.
At Defiance College, the Organizational Supervision and Leadership completion program is a study of basic principles of supervision and managing people, addressing supervisory challenges in today’s modern and dynamic business environment with sensitivity to employees and an appreciation for theory and its practical application.
Designed as a completion program, organizational supervision and leadership serves as a bridge between an Associate Degree and a Bachelor of Arts. Business faculty prepare students to work successfully in the business world, to think creatively about business problems, and to make business decisions.
Discover what it really takes to be a leader. The journey begins here.
Organizational Supervision and Leadership is a completion program designed for students who have an associate degree and wish to pursue a bachelor's degree. It is not available as a stand-alone major. Topics will include the following:
- Major functions of a supervisor in reaching organizational goals and objectives.
- Basic skills that supervisors need in today’s complex and diverse working environments.
- How to utilize human resources skills in recruiting, selecting, orienting and appraising employees in the workplace.
A major in Organizational Supervision and Leadership is a viable fast-track program. The GPA from their associate degree program must be a 2.5 to pursue the fast-track program. Students will be required to take 18 credit hours or 50% of the program from Defiance College. If students are eligible to transfer more than 18 credit hours of this program, they may substitute other courses from the business curriculum to make up their residency requirement. Students are encouraged to take courses from the 300 and 400 level to meet the 26 credit hour requirement of the college.
