Welcome to the Defiance College Business Administration program! World events over the past two decades have created today’s unprecedented business environment. Because of this, modern businesses must be prepared to contend with a wide range of issues. How do we take advantage of the current economic climate to maximize our profits and increase return on our business investment?

Michael Wolfe

How does international conflict affect the global economy and the role our chosen industry plays? What can businesses do to protect themselves and their stakeholders from abuses of power, greed, and corruption? The list is endless. These are real world issues, and today employers are looking for applicants who can be an active participant with real world solutions.

We bring real-world experience into the classroom and facilitate student involvement in the business world outside the classroom. Our faculty and staff are committed to working with individual students and their unique needs in proactively preparing them to enter today’s unprecedented business environment.
Whether it is forensic accounting, leadership, teamwork, microeconomics, small business management, policy development, or anything in between, Defiance College grooms students for success.

Business Minor

The business minor is designed to provide relevant courses to students whose majors are in another department and who desire to acquire the fundamentals necessary to understand and use business principles in an organization.  Students majoring in one of the business areas are not eligible to earn a minor in business.

Unique Opportunities

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE)
All students have an opportunity to be involved in SIFE – Students in Free Enterprise.  SIFE is an international organization that mobilizes university students around the world to become socially responsible business leaders (www.sife.org).

DCeBiz
Defiance College students comprise the board of directors for this co-curricular organization.  Operating much the way any business does, this group uses the internet as its platform for sales.  Students obtain and track inventory, conduct sales, account for income and expenses, and generate reports associated with running a business.  The group went live in January and will use E-Bay®, Craigslist®, and other online outlets to sell consigned items worldwide.  The income generated by the group is spent on an annual trip to meet with a CEO and other leaders in a selected business.

Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society
International honor society recognized and promoting achievement in business management and administration.  www.sigmabetadelta.org

After College — What’s Next?

Careers in business include positions in management, marketing, and financial areas. Students can also choose to attend graduate school. We have students who work for Sara Lee, First Federal and Charter One Banks, Menards, The Federal Reserve Bank, and Henry County Family Court. Some of our graduates have even started their own businesses.
