Mr. Joshua C. Francis
Assistant Professor of Education

Biography:
Joshua Francis is an Assistant Professor of Education for The Defiance College. He currently teaches various courses at both the graduate and undergraduate level.  Mr. Francis also supervises and observes teacher candidates in their field placements.

Mr. Francis’ professional experience has included several projects with central goals were to provide a voice for marginalized populations at every age and were intended to revitalize impoverished neighborhoods and schools.  In addition, Mr. Francis has served as a research consultant on various projects and served as a research assistant on grants to increase awareness of and preparation for undergraduate programs among high school students in urban schools as well as to improve the effectiveness of science educators.  Mr. Francis has also given several presentations at national conferences on participatory action research as pedagogy and as a means for social justice and civic engagement.

Mr. Francis’ research interests include human rights education, democratic education, and public reason.
