This video is a compelling dramatic story of the most significant event against slavery prior to the Civil War. The video portrays the campaign that sparked the Abolitionist movement, raised the consciousness of the country to the evils of slavery, and emerged victorious after the former President John Quincy Adams argued the case before the US Supreme Court.

200. LOVING BETTER THROUGH LAUGHTER
6 Part Series SH-A
Annette Goodheart, Ph. D., is a psychotherapist in private practice in Santa Barbara, California. She has worked with cathartic processes, particularly laughter, since 1970. She is an expert at helping people re-learn the art of laughing without ridicule about those aspects of their lives that are not really funny. This series is designed to provide some insights and practical suggestions about how laughter can help strengthen relationships. The videos are organized in two parts; First, Annette presents information about the benefits of laughter or about the way we behave in relationships or both. Second, she works with one of six couples, focusing on an issue they have identified in their relationship where they get stuck. Throughout the session, Annette makes practical suggestions which will benefit not only the couple but the viewers.

1. NEITHER OF US IS WRONG: 23 minutes. The culture tells us that growing up and finding a mate and developing mature, caring relationships is a serious business, and we forget that we got together to enjoy each other’s company. Laughter causes a physiological change in the body affecting the chemistry of every system at the cellular level. Tension, stress and pain create stress chemicals. Laughter resolves those chemicals and rebalances the system.

2. GET YOUR MITTS OFF MY HAPPINESS:
25 minutes. We are conditioned to think that in marriage our needs will be taken care of, but we all have frozen needs that did not get met in childhood, and can never be filled, except by ourselves. Each of us is responsible for our own happiness. Our partners will only know what our frozen need is if we share.

3. DESPERATELY TRYING TO SHOW OUR LOVE:
21 minutes. We do not laugh because we are happy; we are happy because we laugh. The more laughter in your relationship the happier it will be. But the kind of laughter that makes a relationship happy is healing laughter. It is very important that laughter be shared and not at someone else’s expense.

4. GETTING WHAT WE WANT FROM EACH OTHER:
25 minutes. When you laugh, you can’t think. When you think, you are no longer in the present. When you laugh it draws you back into the present with one another. When you laugh together as a couple, you are reinforcing your bond and blending your spirits in a unique way. Since connecting is what we come together for, laughter becomes an integral part of successful relationships.

5. MONEY IS NOT LAUGHING MATTER:
22 minutes. One of the beliefs that inhibits laughter is that you have to have a reason to laugh. Laughter is unreasonable, irrational and illogical and money is not. We do not have a choice about dealing with money, but we do have a choice about how we deal with it. Laughter is not going to solve the problem, but it relieves the tension around it so you can think more clearly. Laughing about a problem is not glossing it over. It’s balancing.

6. WHEN THE KIDS ALWAYS COME FIRST:
22 minutes. We come together in couples to enjoy each other’s company and to work through our old baggage. The trick is to recognize what your old baggage is how you project it onto each other and to have some fun working through it. We move through our own unfinished emotional baggage, at whatever age we had it, when our child reaches that age. When you decide to play with a painful issue, get permission from your partner. No one can make you feel guilty. You agree to feel guilty.
