General Library Information for Students

The Pilgrim Library is designed to provide an atmosphere conducive to study, with individual study carrels, group study and lounge areas. Resources include books, online databases, electronic books and journals, magazines, journals, newspapers, music CD's and records, and videocassettes. The Library also provides photocopiers, microfilm reader/printers, typewriters, a computer lab, and audiovisual equipment for student use.

The Library has a liberal lending policy coupled with a system of fines of $0.50 per day for overdue items. A validated student I.D. is necessary to check out all materials.

Books
Books from the general circulating collection, juvenile books, corporate reports and textbooks may be borrowed for 21 days, with the Library reserving the right to recall books after the first 21 day period if a book is needed by another patron, or immediately if needed for a class reserve. The borrower will have 48 hours to return the book(s) after which time fines will be charged.

Periodicals
The most current issues of journals, magazines, and newspapers are for use in the Library only. All other issues may be borrowed by DC students, faculty, and staff for a one week period. The Library reserves the right to recall periodicals after a 24 hour period if the periodical is needed by another student or faculty member. The borrower will have 24 hours to return the periodical after which time fines will be charged.

Audio Visual, Music Records, and Compact Discs
Audio- and videocassettes, DVD’s, music records, and compact discs may be borrowed for one week.

Reserve Materials
Selected materials are placed on reserve at the circulation desk by faculty members. Designated circulation times are two hours/library use only, one day, two weeks, or other time periods. Overdue items designated "two hours/library only" will be fined at the rate of $.50 an hour.

USERS OF RESERVE MATERIALS MUST LEAVE A VALIDATED STUDENT I.D. AT THE DESK WHILE USING "LIBRARY ONLY" RESERVE MATERIALS. The I.D. will be returned when the material is returned to the desk.

Reference Books
All reference material is for use in the Library only and may not be checked out.
