The Defiance College Rising Stars program

The Defiance College Rising Stars program recognizes students, ranging from freshmen to graduate students, who are nominated by Defiance College faculty for their classroom achievements, their contributions to the College’s culture of engagement, and/or their significant potential within their major field.

 

 Ashley Tompkins, West Unity, was recently recognized as a Defiance College Rising Star.

The daughter of Billie and Scott Moyer and Bill and Donna Tompkins, Ashley is a graduate of Hilltop High School. At DC, she is a Service Leader, member of the Carolyn M. Small Honors Program, President’s Achievement Society, project co-manager for Tunnel of Oppression, vice president of the Free the Slaves campus organization, Yellow Jacket Marching Band and past member of the Campus Activities Board, community band and pep band. She is majoring in forensic science.

Caroline Hesterman, Fort Wayne, Ind., was recently recognized as a Defiance College Rising Star. 

The daughter of Mike and Katie Hesterman, Caroline is a graduate of Northside High School. At DC, she is a member of the volleyball team, co-manager for Dance Marathon, secretary for Student-Athlete Advisory Counsil, Service Leader and McMaster Scholar to Belize. She is majoring in psychology.

The daughter of Thomas and Teri Pienoski, Elizabeth is a graduate of Magnificat High School. At DC, she is a member of the Carolyn M. Small Honors Program where she serves on the honors executive board, Service Leaders, Criminal Justice Society, DC Players, project manager for Backpack Buddies, DC Recycling volunteer, Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and McMaster Scholar to Cambodia. She is majoring in forensic science and criminal justice and minoring in chemistry and psychology.
