Welcome to the Defiance College’s Self-Study webpage! This site is designed to provide you with information about the NCA – Higher Learning Commission accreditation process. In October 2012, members of the Higher Learning Commission will visit our institution to evaluate the quality and integrity of our institution and programs. This process engages the entire College community in a collaborative effort to assess who we are and where we are going. Through this journey, we will reflect on our past, present, and future within the spirit of our Mission, Vision, and Strategic Plan.
Purpose
As a member of the North Central Association – Higher Learning Commission, our institutional accrediting board, we participate in a self-evaluative process every 10 years for re-accreditation. Through this self-evaluation, we assess our strengths, challenges, and opportunities for quality assurance and institutional and program improvement. The self-evaluation results in a summative report of who we are, where we are, and where we are going. This summative report is made possible through the efforts of you – administrators, faculty, staff, student, alumni, and community partners. Consequently, the success of our re-accreditation is contingent upon our College community. We are using Basecamp to collect evidence for our summative report. Anyone may access Basecamp as a guest by logging in with the username: dcguest and password: selfstudy.
DC Past, Present, and Future: Our Story
As we start this journey, of assessing, affirming, and celebrating our past, present, and future, your input is gravely important and critical to our success to achieve re-accreditation. This very thoughtful process will engage all of us in critical analysis of who we are as an institution of higher education, our current status, and where we see ourselves in the next 5-10 years. As the Chair of Self-Study Steering Committee, I welcome everyone’s thoughts, reflections, and feedback.
