Ohio Benefit Bank Community Tax Preparation
The 2012 tax season has begun and Defiance College will once again be offering free tax filing assistance to the Defiance community. Working through the Ohio Benefit Bank, this program helps low-moderate income families and the unemployed by filing their taxes for free. The OBB is simple, fast and sometimes the only resource available to those who need help.

It's not too late to be of service to your community! Our tax assistance program, now in its 3rd year, begins early February.

If you are interested in working with the Ohio Benefit Bank this year or you would simply like more information please contact Nicholas Weber at 419.783.2558 or by email.

Attendance Expectations for CAP Students
Please read the attached Attendance Expectations which includes all CAP students.
If for any reason (change in work schedule, day care issues, etc) you are having difficulty making it to class, please notify the CAP Office. We may be able to help you switch to a different section or help you drop the class. Don't just stop attending as your grade and future financial aid eligibility will be affected.

Inclement Weather Policy
College administrators will immediately send a message via the College Emergency Notification System as well as notify local radio and TV stations if classes are delayed and/or cancelled. You may also call the CAP office at 419.783.2350. This is the only number on which the message can be heard.

The decision to delay and/or cancel classes will be made as early as possible. If the college will be closed all day, a message will be placed on the Emergency Notification System and media will be notified no later than 6:30 am. When the college is closed for the day, evening classes are also cancelled. If day classes are held but evening classes are cancelled, the decision will be made by 3 pm using the notification methods above. Friday classes of Weekend College are handled separately from Saturday classes.  Please pay close attention to the Emergency Notification System, radio, and TV for all delays/ cancellations.

February 24 from 2 - 5 pm

NOTE: Do not wait until your "last" semester to try and test out of a required course. If you don't pass the computer proficiency test, you will have to take the course(s). If you don't pass the CLEP/Dantes test, you either have to take the equivalent class or wait six months to re-take the test. Either way, your "last" semester becomes, at best, your next-to-last semester.

If you are interested in testing out of a course, please contact Jeannie VonDeylen
at least two weeks prior to the test date.
