Grade Information
Grades for the PERC classes are
not due until the end of the semester. For example, courses that are
held in January will not receive a grade (pass/fail or letter) until
May.
Transcripts will not be released until the grades have been submitted.
Grades can be accessed at the end of the semester through the college's

COURSE
SCHEDULE
February
15 - 16
Building Positive Family and Schools Relationships
- Fred Coulter
A good connection between the clasroom and home can have a positive
impact on students. The problem is how to make and maintain the connection.
In the first part of the workshop, participants will come to understand
the change that America's families are going through by reading related
articles and discussing family systems theory. In the second part, Peter
Benson's model of "developmental assets" to help students
grow and mature will be introduced. Schools and classrooms can be environments
where students can acquire some of the assets that Benson says children
and youth need to grow into healthy adults. Strategies for identifying
and applying these will be discussed.
March 28 - 29
Critical Issues in Youth Sports and Physical Education
- Matt Lydum
This workshop is intended to offer physical education teachers, coaches,
administrators, and others interested in the role of sport and physical
education in schools an opportunity to explore current critical issues
related to organized physical activity and young people. Participants
will explore topics ranging from the childhood obesity epidemic to early
specialization in youth sport.
March 28 - 29
History and Conservation of Ohio Forests for the Regula Classroom
Teacher
- Bill Grimes
This class will be centered around the identification of Ohio's trees,
parts of a tree and it's commercial use, as well as the historical significance
of Ohio's forests.
April 11 - 12
Bravo! What You Do Right Can Be The Key to Student Achievement
- Stacey Elsasser
Okay,
you've been to all these workshops that tell you all the ways to do
something right but the basic premise is that you're doing it all wrong.
Do you long for the days of basic make-it and take-it? Do you wonder
if you will ever recapture the idealism that made you get into teaching
in the first place? Well then, this is the place for you! Come and celebrate
what is right with education and how it applies to your classroom, and
then learn how to capitalize on your own assets and bring your students
rigor and engagement without sacrificing your sanity. This workshop
will offer a chance for you to reflect on your teaching style(s) and
match it up with student learning styles and curriculum choices using
current research, best practice, and common sense. Open to all teachers,
regardless of grade, discipline, or stress level.
April
25 - 26
Teaching for Social Responsibility: Pedagogy that Works!
- Sandra Golden
Are you looking for teaching methods to motivate your students? Want
to learn how to create learning environments to engage, empower, and
stimulate the learner? Through this workshop you will develop the skills
and knowledge to create instructional strategies and classroom activities
that will promote critical, creative, and social consciousness of your
students. You will learn how to design classroom climates that are academically
driven yet engage and motivate learners to take responsibility for their
learning.
