Veterans Programs
Military veterans bring valuable real-world experience and perspectives that strengthen the Defiance College community, and the college is committed to supporting their transition from military service to the civilian workforce. Veterans and military-connected students receive priority registration and personalized assistance with VA education benefits through the Registrar’s Office, along with access to a dedicated Veterans Resource Center that provides a welcoming space to study and connect on campus.

Defiance College is committed to supporting military-connected students through comprehensive academic, financial, and career-focused resources. Through the Empower VetEd initiative—funded by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce—eligible military-connected students pursuing careers in education may receive financial assistance to help reduce barriers as they transition into the teaching profession. Veterans in the Teacher Education Program also receive targeted support through the college’s Jacket Journey career readiness program and the Office of Veteran, Transfer, and Adult Student Support, including access to the Veterans Resource Center. Defiance College participates in VA education programs, including the GI Bill® and the Yellow Ribbon Program, with benefits certified through the Registrar’s Office. Students must apply for VA benefits directly through the VA and submit an Intent to Use Benefits form each semester to ensure certification. Yellow Ribbon funding is available to eligible students to help cover remaining tuition costs not paid by the Post-9/11 GI Bill®. All financial aid is subject to enrollment level and federal, state, and institutional regulations, and awards may be adjusted if enrollment or eligibility changes. For Empower VetEd award inquiries, interested candidates should contact chiggins@defiance.edu or mwinslow@defiance.edu
