Faculty Positions
Assistant Professor of Biology
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology. We are looking for a passionate and committed teacher-scholar that can easily move between introductory and upper-level biology courses. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load focused on a variety of courses included in our Molecular Biology Major, including Microbiology, Genetics, Biochemistry I and II, and upper-division courses per the applicant’s area of expertise. The position duties also include academic advising, assisting with program leadership and curriculum development, committee work, and service to the college.
The successful applicant will have a PhD in biology, genetics, microbiology, or a closely-related field; ABD will be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong teaching record that incorporates strong pedagogical strategies, a demonstrated commitment to sustaining a research program focused on undergraduates, and good interpersonal skills with an emphasis on the importance of collaboration.

Assistant Professor of Business
Defiance College invites applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor of Business. Responsibilities include a 12-credit per semester teaching load that focuses on a variety of courses from introductory to advanced levels. The position also entails academic advising, assisting with program leadership, curriculum development, committee work, and service to the college. The business programs are accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education.
The successful applicant will have a Master of Business Administration degree, with a preferred doctorate in Management. A doctorate in a relevant field is required for tenure-track status. Preference will be given to those with a strong teaching record, innovative ideas for course development and pedagogy, and a willingness to help students apply their work both inside and outside the classroom in creative ways. Professional experience in the field of marketing is desirable.

Part-time Faculty Positions
Teacher Education Clinical Supervisors
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.
Requirements include a master’s degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. General Information for Part-Time Faculty Positions
Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. Applicants must hold a master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field and professional or teaching experience is desirable. Administrative Positions
Financial Aid Counselor
Defiance College seeks candidates for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Counselor is responsible for counseling students and families in the financial aid process and processing financial aid applications in accordance with federal, state and institutional regulations. Duties will include financial aid verification and packaging; managing various procedures such as FAFSA, COD, alternative loans transmission, etc.; reviewing financial aid awards with students, explaining payment options and processes; managing the loan default program; present information to the public about financial aid processes; etc. The successful candidate will be technologically confident and willing to learn computer processes for Powerfaids, NSLDS, FAA Access, Scholarnet, ED Express and ED Connect, and other programs.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree. Prior experience in financial aid or admissions is preferred. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Admissions Counselor
Defiance College invites enthusiastic applicants for the position of Admissions Counselor to recruit, advise, and counsel prospective students. Counselors work with immediate high school graduates, international students, veterans, graduate students and those returning to earn a degree. Reporting to the Director of Admissions and International Education, the admissions counselor meets with prospective students and families, travels as a representative of the College at various college fairs and high schools, and articulates the value of a Defiance College and a liberal arts education. Desirable traits in a counselor include attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and knowledge of technology. A willingness to work as part of a team environment is required. This position requires weekend and evening work.

Graduate Assistant Positions
McMaster School Special Events & Programs Graduate Assistant
Defiance College is seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Assistant to serve as the Assistant Coordinator for Special Events and Programs that are hosted by the McMaster School for Advancing Humanity and the Institute for Career Readiness and Lifelong Learning. This role is ideal for a graduate student who is looking to gain hands-on experience in event planning, program coordination, and administrative support. The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, with work hours scheduled between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours will vary for large events and will at times include evenings and weekends.
The Graduate Assistant will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special events and programs such as Constitution Day, Jacket Days, McMaster Symposium, Academic Colloquium, and others. Responsibilities will include coordinating event logistics such as venue reservations, catering, transportation and accommodations; event registrations; attendee communications; on-site event support; developing and distributing promotional materials; etc. Additional responsibilities will include providing administrative support and assisting in the evaluation and analysis of event outcomes and participant feedback.
The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, have strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Retention Graduate Assistant
Defiance College seeks an individual to serve as Graduate Assistant for Retention within the Academic Support Center with responsibilities for supporting and helping with retention efforts and academic assistance initiatives. Primary duties of this position include academic coaching with identified at-risk students, managing student data to assist with the administration of initiatives that enhance the quality of the student academic experience, and providing online tutoring services through our eTutoring contract with the OhioLINK consortia. The Academic Support Center supports the educational mission of Defiance College by providing academic services to students in a hospitable and positive atmosphere where personal growth and academic improvement are nurtured, long-term success is supported, and learning is the priority, the goal of which is to help students develop skills and strategies for overall college success.

Football Graduate Assistant
Defiance College, an NAIA institution and member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) located in Northwest Ohio, seeks applicants for two football graduate assistant coaches. Responsibilities include coaching; all aspects of recruiting; assisting with film breakdown; game and practice preparation, including video cut-ups; serving as an assistant for equipment; assisting head coach in other duties as requested; and other administrative duties as assigned. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, have previous experience coaching or playing football at the high school, collegiate or professional level, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.

Women’s Basketball Graduate Assistant
Defiance College, an NAIA institution and member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for a women’s basketball graduate assistant coach. The individual will serve as an assistant to the head coach and will also serve as the primary coach for the women’s reserve basketball team. Responsibilities will include recruiting, game preparation, practice organization, scheduling, assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and evaluation, academic monitoring, and other administrative duties as assigned.
