Part-time Faculty Positions

Teacher Education Clinical Supervisors

The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas), and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training sessions on campus.

Requirements include a master’s degree in education and teaching experience in P-12 schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred. General Information for Part-Time Faculty Positions

Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. Applicants must hold a master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field and professional or teaching experience is desirable. Administrative Positions

Office Manager & Service Leader Coordinator for McMaster School & Institutes

Defiance College has an immediate opening for an Office Manager for the McMaster School & Institutes and Service Leader Coordinator. The individual is responsible for providing technical and administrative support to the Institute for Career Readiness and Lifelong Learning (Institutes) and the McMaster School for Advancing Humanity.

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, the individual will be the first line of contact and response to departmental inquiries. Responsibilities include managing social media and creating promotional and marketing materials for the Institute, coordinating mailings, scheduling travel and securing visas and other requirements for international and domestic travel, coordinating and assisting with various programs and activities, maintaining thorough and accurate records and databases, and other administrative and office duties. The individual will lead and manage programs designed to foster student engagement through service and scholarship, coordinate community outreach initiatives, and ensure that students achieve the required hours of service each year.

The successful candidate must be able to relate well with people from various cultural backgrounds, work cooperatively with a diverse group of individuals using tact and diplomacy, and be a detail-oriented self-starter.  Proficiency in MSOffice, confidentiality and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines are critical to the position. Strong familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is desired. Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach

Defiance College, an NAIA institution and member of the WHAC, seeks an individual to serve as assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country programs. Under the direction of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include coaching, recruiting, meet preparation, practice organization, fund raising, mentoring of student-athletes, academic monitoring, managing the programs’ social media accounts, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate must adhere to adherence to institutional, NAIA, and WHAC policies and be able to establish positive relationships and effectively interact with a variety of individuals including alumni, parents, and recruits.

A bachelor’s degree and a valid unrestricted driver’s license are required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess USATF or USTFCCCA coaching education certification, have experience in cross country/distance coaching and the ability to coach multi-events, and have previous CC/TF coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level. A working knowledge of recruiting databases and websites such as Frontrush and NSCA is desirable.

Assistant Women’s Wrestling Coach

Defiance College, an NAIA institution and member of the WHAC located in Northwest Ohio, seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant Women’s Wrestling Coach.

The individual will serve as the primary assistant to the head coach and responsibilities will include: recruiting; match/practice planning and preparation; fundraising; assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete development and evaluation; academic monitoring; and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will also be responsible for supporting the mission of Defiance College, as well as adherence to institutional, NAIA, and WHAC policies and procedures.

A bachelor’s degree, previous coaching experience, and a valid driver’s license are required. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate strong communication skills, recruiting experience, and the ability to lead and serve our student-athletes. This is a full-time, 10-month position (August 1-May 31). Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services

Defiance College is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and empathetic professional to serve as our Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services (SSS). In this pivotal role, you will act as a key advisor, advocate, and coach for first-generation, low-income, and underrepresented students, including those with documented disabilities. You will help guide these students through their higher education journey, ensuring they have the resources, support, and encouragement to succeed. Responsibilities include: recruiting and retaining program participants; leading a summer bridge program; advising and coaching student participants; data tracking and analysis.

This is a 12-month, full-time, grant funded position. Applicants must have a master’s degree (any field) and experience in higher education; the ideal candidate will have academic advising and administrative experience. The Assistant Director will report to the TRIO Director and serve as part of the Academic Success Center at Defiance College. Financial Aid Counselor

Defiance College seeks candidates for the position of Financial Aid Counselor. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Counselor is responsible for counseling students and families in the financial aid process and processing financial aid applications in accordance with federal, state and institutional regulations. Duties will include financial aid verification and packaging; managing various procedures such as FAFSA, COD, alternative loans transmission, etc.; reviewing financial aid awards with students, explaining payment options and processes; managing the loan default program; present information to the public about financial aid processes; etc. The successful candidate will be technologically confident and willing to learn computer processes for Powerfaids, NSLDS, FAA Access, Scholarnet, ED Express and ED Connect, and other programs.

Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree. Prior experience in financial aid or admissions is preferred. Some evening and weekend work is required.

Graduate Assistant Positions

Marketing & Communications Graduate Assistant

Defiance College is seeking a versatile and motivated Graduate Assistant (GA) to support marketing and communications efforts across campus. This is a flexible position designed to align responsibilities with the selected candidate’s strengths and interests while also providing opportunities to develop new skills. The GA will contribute to a range of marketing initiatives, including digital content, social media, website updates, and in-house creative projects. Applicants are not expected to have experience in all areas; training will be provided. This role is ideal for someone eager to learn, take initiative, and grow within a collaborative and fast-paced higher education environment.

Potential Areas of Involvement based on candidate strengths include: Social media content planning, creation, and scheduling; Graphic design for digital and print marketing materials; Content creation (writing, photography, video); Website updates and management using WordPress/Elementor; and Development of in-house marketing collateral.

Preferred Skill Sets (not required; training provided) include: Interest or experience in marketing, communications, or a related field; Familiarity with social media platforms and content trends; Basic skills in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva); Strong written and visual communication skills; and Willingness to learn new tools, systems, and workflows.

McMaster School Special Events & Programs Graduate Assistant

Defiance College is seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Assistant to serve as the Assistant Coordinator for Special Events and Programs that are hosted by the McMaster School for Advancing Humanity and the Institute for Career Readiness and Lifelong Learning. This role is ideal for a graduate student who is looking to gain hands-on experience in event planning, program coordination, and administrative support. The position requires a commitment of 20 hours per week, with work hours scheduled between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Hours will vary for large events and will at times include evenings and weekends.

The Graduate Assistant will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of special events and programs such as Constitution Day, Jacket Days, McMaster Symposium, Academic Colloquium, and others. Responsibilities will include coordinating event logistics such as venue reservations, catering, transportation and accommodations; event registrations; attendee communications; on-site event support; developing and distributing promotional materials; etc. Additional responsibilities will include providing administrative support and assisting in the evaluation and analysis of event outcomes and participant feedback.

The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, have strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Retention Graduate Assistant

Defiance College seeks an individual to serve as Graduate Assistant for Retention within the Academic Support Center with responsibilities for supporting and helping with retention efforts and academic assistance initiatives. Primary duties of this position include academic coaching with identified at-risk students, managing student data to assist with the administration of initiatives that enhance the quality of the student academic experience, and providing online tutoring services through our eTutoring contract with the OhioLINK consortia.  The Academic Support Center supports the educational mission of Defiance College by providing academic services to students in a hospitable and positive atmosphere where personal growth and academic improvement are nurtured, long-term success is supported, and learning is the priority, the goal of which is to help students develop skills and strategies for overall college success.

Defiance College, an NAIA institution and member of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) located in Northwest Ohio, seeks applicants for a football graduate assistant coach. Responsibilities include coaching; all aspects of recruiting; assisting with film breakdown; game and practice preparation, including video cut-ups; serving as an assistant for equipment; assisting head coach in other duties as requested; and other administrative duties as assigned. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree, have previous experience coaching or playing football at the high school, collegiate or professional level, possess a valid driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.

This is a two-year assistantship with a start date of August 3, 2026.
