PART-TIME FACULTY POSITIONS
PART-TIME INSTRUCTORS
Defiance College is often in need of qualified individuals for our part-time faculty
pool. Format of classes is generally face-to-face and content areas of need vary from
semester to semester. Part-time faculty are responsible for providing quality instruction
to students through well-prepared classes, relevant assignments, fair and holistic
assessment of learning, clear directives, and timely and helpful feedback. Applicants
must hold a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field and professional
or teaching experience is desirable.

TEACHER EDUCATION CLINICAL SUPERVISORS
The Teacher Education program is seeking part-time clinical supervisors for teacher
education students participating in 5-week practicum experiences and in 15-week student
teaching experiences for the fall and spring semesters. Our licensure areas include
early and middle childhood education, adolescent and young adult (core content areas),
and intervention specialist mild-to-moderate (K-12). Clinical supervisors are required
to make site visits during normal school hours and attend meetings and/or training
sessions on campus.
Requirements include a master's degree in education and teaching experience in P-12
schools. A current teaching license within the areas indicated above is preferred.

ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS
Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the HCAC, seeks applications
for an individual to serve as Assistant Women’s Basketball Coach. Under the direction
of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include coaching, recruiting, fund raising,
strength & conditioning, developing annual service/engagement projects for student-athletes,
practice planning and preparation, scheduling, assisting head coach in all phases of student-athlete mentoring and evaluation, academic
monitoring, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will also be responsible
for supporting the mission of Defiance College, as well as adherence to institutional,
Heartland Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures.
A bachelor’s degree, previous collegiate coaching and recruiting experience, and a valid driver’s license are required; master’s degree preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate strong communication skills and successful Division III recruiting experience.

Assistant Football Coach: Defensive Coordinator
Defiance College seeks an Assistant Football Coach: Defensive Coordinator. Serving as the Defensive Coordinator, the individual will assist the head coach in
all phases of student-athlete mentoring and development and will support the planning
and directing of all functions of the football program. Responsibilities will include but not be limited to recruiting, coaching, special
teams, strength & conditioning, equipment, film, overall student-athlete instruction,
game and practice planning, fundraising and student-athlete performance. The successful
candidate will also be responsible for supporting the mission of Defiance College,
as well as adherence to institutional, HCAC, and NCAA policies and procedures.

Assistant Softball Coach

Assistant Cross Country/Track & Field Coach
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the HCAC, seeks an individual
to serve as assistant coach for the men’s and women’s track and field and cross country
programs. Under the direction of the Head Coach, responsibilities will include coaching,
recruiting, meet preparation, practice organization, fund raising, mentoring of student-athletes,
academic monitoring, managing the programs’ social media accounts, developing annual
service/engagement projects for student-athletes, and other duties as assigned. The
successful candidate must be able to establish positive relationships and effectively
interact with a variety of individuals including alumni, parents, and recruits.
A bachelor’s degree and a valid unrestricted driver’s license are required. Preference will be given to candidates who possess USATF or USTFCCCA coaching education certification, have experience in cross country/distance coaching and the ability to coach multi-events, and have previous CC/TF coaching and recruiting experience at the collegiate level. A working knowledge of recruiting databases and websites such as Frontrush and NSCA is desirable.

Mail Services and Retail Store Coordinator
Defiance College seeks applicants for a part-time (30 hours per week) position for
an individual to coordinate and process all mail, courier, and copy service functions
of the College, with additional responsibilities for the on-campus apparel and merchandise
retail store.
Mailroom responsibilities include: sort/distribute incoming mail and packages; process outgoing courier services; process outgoing mail, including special and bulk mailings and deliver to post office daily; provide copy services such as copying, collating, cutting, binding, etc.; maintain inventory of paper, envelopes, printer cartridges, and other supplies; and perform monthly reporting activities. Retail Shop duties include: oversee all on-campus retail sales; greet/assist customers; perform sales transactions; maintain visual appeal and cleanliness of store; and perform daily close-out activities. The individual will also be responsible for hiring, scheduling and supervising student workers to assist in carrying out all functions of the mailroom and retail store sales.
The individual must be able to maintain thorough and accurate records; have experience with Word and Excel; possess strong communication, organizational, and time management skills; be able to prioritize tasks and work well under specific time constraints; and be an energetic self-starter who can work well independently. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a friendly and welcoming personality.
A High School diploma is required; an associate’s degree and previous work experience in a mail center or in retail sales is preferred and previous supervisory experience is desirable. Head Baseball Coach
Defiance College, an NCAA D-III institution and member of the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference, invites applications for the position of Head Baseball Coach.
Responsibilities will include all duties normally associated with being the head coach
of an intercollegiate baseball program including, but not limited to: recruiting;
coaching and managing the team; budget management; organization of training, practices
and games; fundraising; equipment control; mentoring assistant coach; and academic
monitoring. Additional expectations include game management duties, involvement in
both departmental and campus-wide programs, and other duties as assigned. All responsibilities
will need to be accomplished in coordination with the athletic administrative team.
Candidates must have the ability to develop and motivate Division III student-athletes,
a strong commitment to the academic success of student athletes, knowledge of and
commitment to all NCAA, HCAC and institutional rules and regulations, good communication
skills, and strong leadership skills.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred), a valid and unrestricted driver’s license, and previous coaching and recruiting experience, preferably as a collegiate head coach. Assistant Athletic Trainer
Defiance College seeks an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Defiance College is affiliated
with the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and sponsors 20 intercollegiate
athletic teams. The Assistant Athletic Trainer will assist the Head Athletic Trainer
in athletic health care management and medical coverage for NCAA sponsored intercollegiate
athletic teams and events at Defiance College. The individual will be assigned specific
coverage for two intercollegiate teams but will cover other sports and events as needed.
Responsibilities will include but not be limited to: coverage of practices, games, and events and traveling with teams to provide coverage at off-campus contests; assisting in daily ATR operations, including injury evaluation, emergency treatment, and rehabilitation; recordkeeping and documentation; work with local medical providers and team physicians to coordinate referrals for injuries; and providing counseling and education to student athletes.
Qualified applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (master’s preferred), have current NATA BOC certification, be licensed by the State of Ohio through the Ohio OT/PT/AT, and have previous athletic training experience, preferably in a higher education environment.

Graduate Assistant – Intramurals/Student Life
Defiance College seeks an individual to serve as Graduate Assistant for Intramurals
within the Office of Student Life. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Students, the
individual will be responsible for coordinating and planning the day-to day operations
of a comprehensive intramural sports program which supports and encourages the concept
of student leadership and development. The individual will support the activities and events of the Office of Student Life including assisting with weekend
programming. Primary duties and responsibilities include: coordinating and scheduling all intramural
sports activities, events, and tournaments; hiring, training, and scheduling of officials
and other student workers; policy development and enforcement; facility reservations;
program promotion; participant registration; inventory and requisition of equipment
and supplies; and program assessment. The individual will serve as the point of contact
for the Jacket Woods Disc Golf Course and maintain the Defiance profile page on UDisc.
The individual will also serve as a member of the Crisis Response Team and Professional
Residence Life Staff which will include participating in Resident Assistant Training
and being a part of the duty phone rotation throughout the year.
The successful candidate must hold a bachelor’s degree, have knowledge of and/or have participated in a wide variety of sports and recreational activities, and demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills; previous intramural participation, officiating, and/or tournament experience is desirable.
