DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Inter-Greek Council at Defiance College is once again collecting gently-used prom dresses for Prom Dress Extravaganza.

The recycled prom dress drive, which was started in 2014, collected about 100 dresses last year. The goal is to help high school girls enjoy the high school prom experience even if they have a tight budget.

DC student Marissa Kosier, fundraising chair of the Inter-Greek Council, commented, "People should donate their dresses because it can help another girl enjoy her dream night that might not happen because of not being able to afford a dress."

According to Marissa, benefits to dress owners who donate their old prom dresses include "getting rid of a dress that may never be worn again while helping others who can’t always afford an expensive dress but still deserve to look beautiful on their special night."

Prom dress donations may be left at Butler Real Estate, 301 Clinton St., Defiance.

The Prom Dress Extravaganza will take place from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. in Hubbard Hall on the College campus on March 19 and again on April 9. Cost of dresses will range from $5 - $20.

For more information, call Anne Gregory at 419-784-4500.

All proceeds raised from the prom dress initiative will be used to benefit Greek Life retreats and future community outreach activities for the Inter-Greek Council. The Defiance College Inter-Greek Council is committed to promoting positive values, providing experiential learning opportunities, and developing a greater understanding among all Greek organizations.
