Defiance College to perform faculty recital Oct. 5

September 29, 2017

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Defiance College Music Programs will present a faculty recital at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 5, at the St. John United Church of Christ, 950 Webster Street, Defiance.

The College will introduce their Community Music School, which will provide quality music instruction by credentialed music teachers. Defiance College offers private lessons on all band and orchestral instruments, guitar, bass, and percussion.

Defiance College music instructors will perform a varied and exciting repertoire of romantic and contemporary collaborations. The recital features Dr. Mark Cook, percussion, Peter Deal, trombone, Jason Lozer, trumpet, Carmen Martin, violin, and Hannah Watson, piano. Selections include moving works by Gershwin, Kennan, Liszt, Ropartz, and Sarasate.

Admission is free and open to the public. Ushers will collect a free-will offering at the conclusion of the performance.

All proceeds of the recital will offset student costs of Defiance College Chamber Singers’ appearance at the world-famous Carnegie Hall in 2018. Earlier this year, the Chamber Singers accepted an invitation to perform with the Choral Union and four other choirs in New York City next summer. The seven-day tour includes choir performances in New York State, and a special appearance in New York City.
