Defiance College to award seven full-tuition scholarships at Scholarship Days

DEFIANCE, Ohio - Defiance College will be awarding seven full-tuition scholarships for the 2019-20 academic year. These awards for first-time DC freshmen will be presented based on eligible students' participation in two upcoming Scholarship Days on Jan. 19 and Feb. 16.

Two Presidential Scholarships and five Trustee STEM Scholarships will be awarded.

Dr. Agnes Caldwell, vice president and dean of academic affairs, said of the science scholarships: "Defiance College is pleased to reward promising students with aspirations in STEM fields to join our great faculty and research opportunities."

Only first-time freshmen students entering Defiance College are eligible to participate and receive scholarship awards through the Scholarship Day program. Scholarship awards are renewable throughout the student's undergraduate program of study at DC, subject to scholarship renewal requirements.

For both the Presidential and Trustee STEM scholarships, amount awarded is $32,500 per year, renewable over four years, provided a 3.0 GPA is maintained.

The Scholarship Day schedule includes a session for participants to write a short essay and a session of speed networking in which students will meet with faculty and staff in an interview setting.

To be eligible for Scholarship Day, students must be first-time freshmen with a minimum 3.5 GPA and 25 ACT or 1200-1220 SAT. For more information, contact the Office of Admissions at 419-783-2359 or admissions@defiance.edu.
